| Agilent recommends using PTFE/silicone septa for all headspace applications. The PTFE lining provides an excellent barrier between the silicone and the solvent. In addition, silicone can withstand temperatures up to 200°C. Our septa are specially designed to provide minimal contamination of the headspace sample. |

| A lower cost option for lower temperature applications is the PTFE lined Butyl septa. Maximum temperature of 100°C. |
| Agilent does not recommend storage or elevated storage temperatures when using volatile compounds because over time the septa material may be transferred into the sample. |
